Jadu: Your AR Entry into the Metaverse
Happy Sunday! This week we’ll be diving into the realm of Augmented Reality within web3 and the metaverse.
The Profile Basics
Project Name:
Jadu
Industry:
web3 - metaverse/AR
Floor Price:
4.2 ETH for Jetpacks, 0.92 ETH for hoverboards
Break It Down for Me
The Problem:
NFTs and the metaverse are currently largely siloed in virtual worlds; significant adoption of gaming has resulted in teenagers spending a large amount of time sitting inside in their room playing games.
The Solution:
Jadu utilizes AR technology to enable NFT owners to interact with real world objects in a dynamic fashion. The applications of AR in the metaverse--or as Jadu calls it “the mirrorverse”--unlocks the possibility that exploration of the metaverse and our own physical world doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive.
Core Users:
Owners of partnered and supported NFT projects including
CyberKongz
,
FLUFs
,
DeadFellaz
,
Meebits
,
VOIDs
,
Chibi Apes
. Users will grow as they significantly expand the number of NFT projects that they support.
Walk Me Through It:
Remember Pokemon Go? Well Jadu is positioning itself to be one of the leading web3 versions of this that will support all of your NFTs.
Jadu currently has two kinds of NFTs--1,111 Jadu Jetpacks and 6,666 Jadu Hoverboards, each that vary in terms of NFTs vary in terms of “speed”, “handling”, and “jump”. Essentially if you own a jetpack or hoverboard, your NFTs can travel by air in partnered virtual worlds (right now including the Sandbox and Fluf World) and Jadu’s mobile app. Jadu is in development of its own play to earn game; while unknown, one can speculate that it probably will involve AR as the next iteration of its current mobile app.
They currently have a popular web2 mobile app (“Jadu”) that you can download and try for yourself.
Show Me the Money
Currently:
While users can currently utilize Jadu in its mobile app, its play to earn game and any potential token are yet to be released. As a result the only way to currently invest would be to buy one of the jetpack or hoverboard NFTs.
Be Wary
Where to be wary for Jadu:
Because the project is still relatively early, there is still a certain amount of uncertainty. First, the play to earn game has not been released and there are a limited amount of supporting projects and worlds. Second, there is forward-looking uncertainty regarding the number or quality of partnered projects going forward and whether there will be functional in-game utility and advantages to being able to fly in certain worlds.
Now Get Excited
While Jadu is early, it has an impressive team with significant experience both in AR and blockchain to the point where it is reasonable to speculate that they could become the web3 leaders in AR.
The second reason is the potential for an increasing amount of NFT partnerships and an increasing amount of dynamic interactions. As Jadu increases its number of NFT partnerships, more and more NFT holders can functionally benefit from purchasing a jetpack or hoverboard in virtual worlds or in Jadu’s AR game. It will also increase dynamic interactions between supported NFTs and physical, real world items like being able to play the piano to potentially (speculating) being able to recognize and be able to interact with people.
Finally is the potential for the “Mirrorverse” to become the leading AR platform in the metaverse. Relevant AR applications could span from digital fashion and wearable NFTs to outdoor activities. Does the metaverse need to be a place where acting participants lock themselves in another room to escape to another world or can AR help bring users outside and enable the metaverse to enhance our interactions with our physical surroundings? The 2016 Pokemon Go craze highlighted some of the health benefits that AR can bring to gaming such as increased sunshine and fitness; could Jadu do the same for web3?
How did you like this week’s Web3Profile? Your feedback helps me make this great.
